New Taipei City, Taiwan
Sacred Heart Primary School was founded in 1965 by the Sacred Heart Catholic Society of New Taipei City, Taiwan, to promote the ideals of St. Madeleine Sophie, the founder of the Sacred Heart Society worldwide, who declared, "For the happiness of one child, I also founded the Sacred Heart Society." It has been in operation for over 60 years.
The school is located on the left bank of the Tamsui River in Bali District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, near the Guandu Bridge. It enjoys convenient transportation and a rich cultural atmosphere. Together with Sacred Heart Girls' High School, it shares a beautiful natural environment with open views. The campus features lush forests and birdsong, providing a high-quality learning environment for children. It is an international bilingual school that cultivates good character, diverse abilities, and elegant temperament.
We use the five core educational goals of the Sacred Heart Society as a crucial basis for our school's operations. We actively lead all our educational partners in shaping our organizational culture and striving to uphold the spirit of Sacred Heart education, putting it into practice in our work. With the support of the Sacred Heart Society Taiwan, our spiritual center, and the board of directors, we assist our faculty and staff in enriching their physical, mental, and spiritual growth and reflecting on education. Through BPR (Body Regeneration and Reflection), spiritual education, and the Sophie Humanities curriculum, we enrich the minds and spirits of Sacred Heart teachers and students, allowing the school to experience happiness, respect, and care.
Currently, the elementary school has 18 classes with 635 students, and the Good Shepherd Garden Kindergarten has 8 classes with 202 students. The school has a total of 107 faculty and staff members. Our school education is based on the five core educational goals of the Sacred Heart Society, integrating faith into daily life, seeking wisdom and value, caring for society, building a loving community, and respecting free development. Our curriculum and school management are guided by these goals, resulting in excellent performance from both teachers and students, and outstanding educational achievements that have earned the support and recognition of parents.
The school's vision is one of mutual love and compassion, nurturing students' beliefs in loving God, others, and themselves. It actively implements the mission of the Sacred Heart Society (JPIC), with faculty and staff fulfilling their mission as educators of the Sacred Heart. The school regularly holds seminars on the Sacred Heart mission, organizes conferences to discuss Sacred Heart documents, and facilitates international exchange and sharing. Students form diverse teams that promote environmental protection, social responsibility, support for the disadvantaged, and diverse talents, thus realizing the goals of Sacred Heart education.
Each year, the school conducts a week-long BPR (Body Reflection Program) for teachers, involving silent prayer and reflection to allow for spiritual and physical reflection, receive God's support, and return to their work with renewed energy. Each semester, the school holds a "Heartfelt Covenant" activity for students in grades 3-6, introducing them to the history of the Sacred Heart Society and guiding them in self-exploration and cultivating their humanistic spirit. The school also actively builds educational outcomes that embody the spirit of Sacred Heart education, including the creation of the Sacred Heart Elementary School anthem, which incorporates the Sacred Heart's beliefs in loving God, others, and oneself, and depicts the joyful learning experiences of children at the Sacred Heart campus at the foot of Guanyin Mountain in Bali District, Taiwan, showcasing their vibrant and beautiful lives. In addition, a special commemorative publication was published to mark the 60th anniversary of Sacred Heart Elementary School, summarizing the arduous journey of the Sacred Heart Society in establishing the school over the past 60 years, as well as the school's fruitful educational achievements, showcasing the remarkable success of Sacred Heart education. Furthermore, the school actively implements the mission of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (JPIC) in daily life, with all students participating in morning and evening prayers daily, cultivating children's learning experience in prayer and festive chanting. Through weekly Sophie d'Or (Catholic Sophie) courses, students learn about Catholic festivals and the origins and founding history of the Sacred Heart Society.
Over the past 60 years, under the dedicated management of the Sacred Heart Society, the Board of Directors, successive principals, faculty, staff, and parents, Sacred Heart Elementary School has become a distinguished Catholic school in Northern Taiwan, characterized by its dedicated administrative team, outstanding teachers, diligent and diverse student learning, and strong parental support. It has nurtured many social elites and outstanding alumni.
